Linkwood 12 yo (2008/2020), Wilson & Morgan – Barrel Selection, 58%

Review #841
A two cask, cask strength release from Wilson & Morgan, from the casks #308645-308646. Only 548 bottles were made. Light and fresh at first in the smell. Then it starts to open up, and dried fruit appears. Dates and raisins alongside marzipan, oranges and nuts.

Here, the dried fruits and high ABV comes rushing in straight away. Sweet vanilla raisins and chocolate in the taste. Very delicious, with vanilla and candied oranges and apples in the background! The finish is long, and this “rum-raisin-chocolate” flavour keeps pampering your palate.

A Sherry finish like it should be - I need to try this in a Chesterfield in front of a fireplace! I know it is only a relatively short finish, but in this case, the PX casks and the ex-Bourbon maturation just complement each other so well. A fantastic balance between the vanilla and the sweet dried fruits. I will give this 91/100 (22/23/23/23).
