Old Pulteney 17 yo, 46 %

Review #43
The 17 year old is a mix of Oloroso sherry and bourbon barrels. In the smell I find raisins, sweetness like toffee, vanilla and caramel. All with a salty touch.

The taste is the winner. The saltiness is still present, but is accompanied by some fat oily dried fruits. This works very well. The finish is just the taste smoothened out, but the salt is almost gone and replaced with some citrus notes.

This whisky is not that complex but very well balanced. This is a nice acquaintance, and an appropriate fitting between the 12 and 21 year old Old Pulteney.  I will give this whisky 88/100 (22/23/21/22).
