Nobody exactly knows what CV stands for. Some means it
stands for Curriculum Vitae, others say Chairmans Vat. This is the second
edition and it is a variety of different styles and ages from Springbank. It is
2,5 time distilled and as far as I know a mixture of bourbon, sherry and port
casks.
It smells light peated, some musty oak comes to mind
and at the end a mix of dried fruit from the sherry and a good port. The taste is
peated at first but changes quickly to burned brown sugar and toasted oak
before the finish lets you sit back with some peat again and a spicy touch.
There is a lot going on in this whisky. Pretty
complex, but not in the best way. Not bad either though… I find the balance a
bit of, and that is a shame because I think that this whisky have potential. I
will rate this 86/100 (21/ 22/22/21).
