This is from BenRiachs Wood Finish Series and bottled in 2006. They made 2100 bottles of this. The smell has some burned brown sugar on the edge to sweet caramel. I also get a mix of citrus and a fresh salty ocean breeze if you can imagine.
The taste at first is very rum inspired. Dark sugar or molasses, but with the distinct classic whisky taste right away. The finish is just a nice continuation of the taste, but dies a bit fast. I would love to try this cask strength.
A great whisky that would be exceptional if it wasn’t watered down to 46 %. Like many other whiskies this needs to breath and only gets better after some time in the glass. I will rate this 88/100 (22/23/22/21).
