Review #156 |
One of the
Old Pulteney whiskies made exclusive to travel retail. It is matured in 80 %
bourbon casks and 20 % sherry casks. The smell is young and malty. If you have
been at a distillery and smelled a washback that is finish (or close to
finish), you know what I am talking about.
A bit more
going on in the taste. Some vanilla and oak mixed with hints of fruity notes.
Some burned oak appears in the finish with some honey. Unfortunately, the
finish loses its power fast even though it is 46 %.
A whisky
that is bottled to young in my opinion. The smell suffers tremendous due to
this. The taste helps a bit on the total impression though. I will give this
79/100 (19/21/20/19).
