GlenDronach 9 yo (bottled 2014), Darth Vader, 48 %

Review #220
This whisky is from PX sherry casks and only 3000 bottles were made. It is bottled for Denmark and the nickname is “Darth Vader”. The last couple of years a whisky is bottled to Denmark as a Christmas whisky, and in 2014 it was this one. Light, sweet with dried fruits in the smell. Not the heavy ones but more like apricots.

Oak and hints of chocolate in the taste. Impressive for a 9 year old whisky. It is as if your mouth is coated with fruity flavors. It is a very chewable whisky. Nice long fruity finish, but alongside the oaky notes in the finish some spices appears.

I am quite impressed with the complexity considering that it is only 9 years old, and 48 % seems to be just the right strength for this whisky. Great stuff from GlenDronach. One of the distilleries that really masters the use of PX casks! I will rate this 88/100 (21/22/22/23).
