Review #283 |
Douglas Laing
runs a series called 'Xtra Old Particular' with rare old whiskies. This is from
cask DL11008 which were a refill hogshead and only 9 bottles were made. Sweet
on the nose with hints of vanilla, marzipan and honey.Just all kind of
sweetness, toasted oak and some slightly salty notes.
Not at all what
I expected at first. It seems a bit young at first in the taste with some
citrusy notes accompanied with some spices. The finish still got the spices,
but some fruitiness is rushing in.
If you give it
some water, the youngness from the taste disappear and opens up for
some fruityness in the smell. A dram where a lot of stuff happens, and not very
often you come by Braeval (Braes of Glenlivet), so that it always fun. I will give this
86/100 (21/21/22/22).
