Teeling, Small Batch – Rum Casks, 46 %

Review #341
This is bottled February 2015 (on the bottle: 02/2015) and is a blended Irish whiskey matured in rum casks. The smell is very light. Maybe too light… Not much is going on, but after a couple of minutes in the glass, some fresh fruits appear. Some pineapple and coconut, but also apples and just a hint of sweet pears.

At first it seems quite young in the taste.. Some sweet notes, but I can’t quite tell whether it is from the rum casks or what… There is definitely some fruity sweetness as well. Sweet pears and pineapple like in the smell. Some malty notes comes forward in the finish while the alcohol tickles the tongue…

This is fine for the price (got it at the airport for about £20), but nothing more. A nice quiet sweet dram that doesn’t hurt nobody… The alcohol can be a bit much at first in the taste though… I will give this 81/100 (20/20/21/20).
