Suntory Royal, 43%

Review #482
This is a blended whisky that originates back to 1960 where it marked the 60th anniversary of the company. It is called a superb entry level Japanese whisky, but we will get back to that. Light, fruity, dry with hints of bitter oak in the smell. The fruits is predominantly dried fruits. A very easy dram indeed!

A slight burn from the alcohol with oak at first in the taste. Then some dried fruits and wood spices. Cinnamon as the dried fruits mixes – reminds me a lot of Christmas cake. The finish is just a continuation of the taste, but almost without sweetness. That’s a bit strange…

A very classic Japanese whisky, that comes in strange size bottle – 66cl. Dry, dried fruits and oak. The lack of sweetness makes it a bit off, and in my opinion an odd choice of an entry level Japanese whisky. I will give this 80/100 (20/20/20/20).
