Mortlach 20 yo (1990/2010), Barrel Selection, 56,5%

Review #500
From Wilson & Morgan’s series ”Barrel Selection” comes this Sherry monster. It’s a single cask and comes from a Sherry butt with the cask no 4412. Over ripe plums, sweet raisins and tannins in the smell. Some vanilla in the background.

Dried fruits, tannins and just the right amount of oak in the taste. Oils fills your mouth and gives you a long lasting finish. The dried fruits and oak just carries on beautifully and the fruity sweetness that starts coming forward is just amazing.

What’s not to like? Old Sherry matured Mortlach! It just delivers exactly what I want in a Sherry dram! And even now, where I am writing this, the dram still carries on in the mouth! Had it been a bit more complex, this would have been an absolute top scorer! I will rate this 92/100 (23/24/23/22).
