Amrut Naarangi, 50%

Review #607
Naarangi means orange in Sanskrit. It is matured in an Oloroso cask which was seasoned with wine and (and now to the name) orange peels! It is a 6 year old single malt - 3 years initial maturation before it was matured for another 3 years in this Oloroso cask. Dark orange chocolate in the smell. Dried dates, earth and oak.

A alcohol kick at first in the taste. Oak and oranges with a dash of dark chocolate and coffee. The finish is long and warm, with sweet orange peel (really?!?), oak and dried fruits - especially dates.

It may sound like a Sherry bomb, but it is most definitely not! It just have a dash of all the classic flavours you get from Sherry cask maturation. If you don´t like nauseating orangy sweetness (in the good way…), this is not for you. I will give this 84/100 (21/21/21/21).
