Amrut, Port Pipe Peated (bottled 2016) – Cask #3881, 59%

Review #613
This is a peated single cask from Amrut, bottled in 2016 for the 60th anniversary of La Maison du Whisky in France. Only 640 bottles were made. Heavy dark dried fruits and just a hint of peat in the smell. Very spicy as well. Actually quite gentle to the nose, considering the high ABV.

In the taste you are quite aware that it is cask strength (in the good way!)! The Port notes shines wonderfully through, with the red fruits controlling the direction. The peat, oak and oak spices comes forward in the finish, where some dried dates and apricots also appear. Feels very fat and oily.

All the notes are so heavy in this, that the peat almost is in the background. The influence from the Port cask are great, and the way it all mixes with the peat is actually quite elegant! I will give this 89/100 (21/23/23/22).
