Glenfarclas 2004 (bottled 2015), The Family Casks, 60,4%

Review #624
This is from the iconic single cask series “The Family Casks” from Glenfarclas! This is a special release from spring 2015 selected by Glenfarclas and the Van Wees team. It is about 11 years old. It is from a first fill Sherry butt, with the cask no. 2623, and only 683 bottles were made. Tobacco and leather in the smell. Like a good cigar in a Chesterfield sofa. Some dried fruit sweetness beneath, alongside some strawberry jam.

Very powerful at first in the taste. Very sweet, but the fruity notes comes more forward in a mix of fresh and dried. The finish is long, warm and just amazing. The sweetness from the fruits just stays and cover your mouth.

Even the young Family Casks are absolutely amazing! And the price is actually quite okay (compared to todays whisky prices). Quality casks is just everything, and with good spirit, it seems like a recipe for success! It is young and feisty (but still elegant), so give it some water (if you’d like). I will give this 90/100 (23/22/22/23).
