Dailuaine 11 yo (2004), SMWS 41.86, 56,7%

Review #738
This whisky is called “Cakes in the kitchen” and comes from a virgin oak hogshead, heavy toasted with medium char. Only 258 bottles were made. Baked apples and burned oak in the smell. Lemon cake with vanilla ice cream. Notes of candy and honey.

The oak is much more dominant in the taste. Rich white fruits and syrupy notes – almost sticky! The oak is still the main ingredient in the finish. Not overpowering – just the main focus. Some vanilla comes forward, as a great touch to the experience.

The first impression (the smell) was the best about this whisky! Great balance between the oak, rich white fruits, sweetness and citrusy notes. It got a bit one sided in the taste. Well, not that I found it bad – I actually quite enjoyed it. I will give this 85/100 (22/21/21/21).
