Review #138 |
This 11 year old is from 2 vintages. 1999 and 2000. I
saw this by a coincidence in Drum Bar in Malmö (Sweden). The smell is very
sherry influenced at first. The tannins almost stings in your nose, but after
some minutes the fruits get more dominant.
Sherry bomb! Tannins at work and oak influence in the
taste as well. The finish is just nice and smooth and stays for quite a bit.
The 46 % works very well for this whisky.
If I had blindtasted this, I would have guessed on
something like Glenfarclas 105 Cask Strength (the 10 year old). The sherry is
very intense and the ABV seems higher than 46. Very good indeed. I will rate
this 88/100 (22/22/22/22).
