Review #136 |
This is batch number 10 from Springbanks Cask Strength
series. Only 9.000 bottles were made. The batch is from 70 % sherry casks and
30 % bourbon casks. Dry sherry, fruity sweetness and a lot of alcohol on the
nose. Don´t get to close with your nose at first, but don’t worry, you can
easily smell it from a distance.
Lots and lots of tannins in the taste. You get oak and
heavily dried fruits as well. The light peat appear in the finish with some
marzipan sweetness.
This really gets better with a couple of drops of
water. It is only 12 years old, but if you have the time, please give this
whisky some time to breathe and open up. I will rate this 91/100 (22/22/22/23).
