Review #185 |
A NAS
whisky from Tomatin matured in a combination of bourbon barrels and virgin oak
casks. The smell is light fruity. Hints of apples and pears in the background,
but the vanilla and marzipan is more in focus. The sweetness is definitely from
the fruit though.
The taste
is very light and fruity smoothness comes rushing in. Fresh fruits picked
directly from the tree and dipped in honey. The finish bears more signs of the
virgin oak influence. The fresh fruits get switched out with light oak and
vanilla.
It is a bit
simple, but if you give it some time in the glass it opens up a bit and becomes
a more complete whisky. A little water opens up for some extra light
fruitiness. I will give this 83/100 (21/20/21/21).
