Review #199 |
To make this
expression, the people from Aberlour have only selected spirit from fresh
Oloroso sherry butts. The smell is soft and filled with grapes, honey and oak. Place
the glass a bit under your nose and close your eyes. You would swear you had a
Christmas cake in front of you!
You sense
the wood influence a bit more in the taste. Oak mixes with the fruits. A bit
watery though. The finish is a fine continuation of the taste, but with some
sweeter fruits present. Like overripe apples and pears. Also some tannins
appears.
I really
like the balance, and for a whisky that is watered all the way down to 40 %,
the complexity is pretty good as well. Instead of making cask strength NAS
whiskies, they should try with these expressions as cask strength! I will give
this 86/100 (22/21/21/22).
