Aberlour 12 yo, Sherry Cask, 40 %

Review #199
To make this expression, the people from Aberlour have only selected spirit from fresh Oloroso sherry butts. The smell is soft and filled with grapes, honey and oak. Place the glass a bit under your nose and close your eyes. You would swear you had a Christmas cake in front of you!

You sense the wood influence a bit more in the taste. Oak mixes with the fruits. A bit watery though. The finish is a fine continuation of the taste, but with some sweeter fruits present. Like overripe apples and pears. Also some tannins appears.

I really like the balance, and for a whisky that is watered all the way down to 40 %, the complexity is pretty good as well. Instead of making cask strength NAS whiskies, they should try with these expressions as cask strength! I will give this 86/100 (22/21/21/22).
