Review #201 |
The first
in the new series from Arran. “Smugglers Series”. Only 8700 bottles were made.
A bit feisty on the nose, but if you distance your nose a bit some citrusy
notes arrives. After some time in the glass, some peated notes appear as well.
This mixture of citrus and peat is actually quite good.
More peat
in the taste. Some sweet fruity notes tries to squeeze its way in and still
some citrusy notes in the background. Some spices, hay and light oak comes to
mind in the finish as well as the peat gets more intense.
A good
whisky but nothing spectacular. I can sense the old days and the concept of the
“Smugglers Series”, but it doesn’t take me all the way like their series The
Devils Punchbowl did. I will rate this 85/100 (21/21/22/21).
