Review #205 |
This is
made for the travel retail market. Matured in specially reserved sherry casks
and then married in a solera vat. The smell is very sherry influenced but still
fresh with plums and peaches. Must say that it reminds me mostly of a sherry
finish, but that might have something to do with the low ABV or short
maturation (if it is short?? Bloody NAS whiskies!).
Good sherry
influence and POOF, it’s gone… The taste is good, but still very watery. Some
plums and very light oaky notes. Some darker notes in the finish like raisins
and dark chocolate. The problem though, is that it is over before it even
began.
This would
probably be great at 46 %, but Glenfiddich chose to water it as far down as
possible (profit over quality?? cough cough) which just makes the flavors drown
instead of being unleashed. The flavors that is there are great though. I will
give this 83/100 (21/22/20/20).
