Review #274 |
This 18
year old expression replaced the 17 year old in 2007. Dried fruits, coffee and
chocolate in the smell. Some faint sour and floral notes as well. I hardly get
any peat though. It is very gentle on the nose.
Sweet with
extremely gentle peat at first in the taste, then some very floral spirity
notes. Roses perhaps and a hint of soap as well. The finish is a bit watery but
still carries some dark fruity flavors.
I prefer
the younger Bowmore’s from their core range. Sometimes in the older Bowmore’s,
some soapy flower water notes can appear, in a way that doesn’t suite my
palate, and this is one of those times. It is still a fine dram though. I will
give this 85/100 (21/21/21/22).
