Macallan 2003 (bottled 2012), G&M Speymalt, 43 %

Review #312
A young Speymalt from Gordon & MacPhail. Sherry casks as always, and that shows! It is a mix of first and refill sherry casks. Crème Brule and toffee sweetness in the smell. Then the fruity notes of raisins and dates. But it ain´t just dark fruity flavors here… Also some fresher notes like apple and marzipan.

Light fruity flavor at first in the taste and the oak influence is spot on! Remember it is a young whisky, so not that much wood on the palate. The darker fruits gets more dominant in the finish as well as some more oak comes forward. Incredible long finish considering the 43 %.

This is very warming in the mouth in a very pleasant way! It is only about 9 years old and watered all the way down to 43 %, yet it is so full of flavors. I will rate this 88/100 (21/22/23/22).
