Highland 10 yo, House of Malt, 43 %

Review #435
A bottling by the shop House of Malt in Carlisle called “Secret Bottling Series”. It is from ex-Bourbon barrels. A mix of sweet and rough notes on the nose. Vanilla, hay and some oak. On top of it all lies a layer of fruits. Apple pie (not a sweet one though) and some plums and a touch of dried fruits.

Very malty and citrusy at first in the taste. Then some dark fruits that fills the mouth and leaves it watery. In the finish, some dried fruits appears with some fruity sugary sweetness. It is not a long finish, and the low ABV doesn’t help the whisky, but with that aside, it actually stays for a while.

Just a pleasant nice and easy going dram. Not very complicated, but not un–complicated either. If that makes sense? It does the trick, and would be an excellent dram for someone getting into malts! I will give this 82/100 (20/20/21/21).
