North British 10 yo (2006/2017), Whiskybroker, 52,5%

Review #529
This is from a refill Bourbon barrel with the cask number 818390. Only 245 bottles were made. Some spices is the first thing that hits my nose. Some alcohol, and surprisingly, not very sweet. A bit of marzipan in the end.

Very sharp at first in the taste. And peat! Is this peated? Probably not, but the cask must previously have contained peated whisky! Some white fruits as well. The finish is warm, long and full of vanilla. Still with hints of the peat and the white fruits.

A young cask strength grain whisky, matured in a cask previously held peated whisky (not verified though) – that’s not something you come across everyday! I can understand why they chose to bottle this cask! I will give this 81/100 (19/20/21/21).
