Amrut Raj Igala, 40%

Review #605
This is a single malt, made with Punjabi malted barley. It is matured in ex-Bourbon casks. Raj Igala means “King of the Eagles”. Sweet malted barley in the smell. Loads of vanilla and sugars.

A little roughness appears in the taste, but the sweetness is dominant. Vanilla again and a bit of oak and hay. The finish is over a bit quick, and it is mainly just sugars that dies out…

A very mild Amrut, but the finish is a bit too weak and it lacks complexity. Due to the low ABV and the very sweet profile, it would be perfect as a beginner’s whisky though. I will give this 80/100 (19/20/21/20).
