Amrut Portonova, 62,1%

Review #610
This is an unpeated Amrut. It is matured in American oak ex-Bourbon barrels, then moved to Port pipes before it is moved back into the ex-Bourbon barrels. Sweet Port and sweet raisins in the smell. Dates and sweet red berries.

A big kick of alcohol at first in the taste, but soon sweet raisins fills your mouth. Dark chocolate, red berries and oak in the finish. Some old leather notes in the end. It stays for a very long time…

The alcohol kick is a bit much, but when the whisky settles, the Port notes really unfolds, and that is truly amazing. Do me a big favour, whether you use water or not, give this some water!! If you do, you will have these great Port notes dominating from start to finish! I will give this 90/100 (23/21/23/23).
