Paul John Peated Select Cask 2016, 55,5%

Review #611
This is batch 01 June 2016. It is, as the name indicates, a peated expression, and the peat is imported from Scotland. Sweet vanilla and peat in the smell. Almost Caol Ila-like. Smokey hay and sweet pears.

A good amount of alcohol and peat mixes in the taste. As the alcohol fades, some vanilla mixes in. Loads of white fruits comes forward in the finish, Crisp apples, but still with a fair amount of peat. Some light citrusy notes in the end.

A fine dram, and if you like sweet peat, this could be a good dram for you. Good thing this is cask strength, as 40% probably would have made this expression quite plain and boring. I will give this 84/100 (21/21/21/21).
