Balvenie 12 yo (bottled 2015), Single Barrel #5877, 47,8%

Review #630
From a first fill ex-Bourbon barrel, and no more than 300 bottles are released per cask in the series. White fruits are everywhere on the nose. Some sweetness as well. Honey, toffee and vanilla.

A bit more happens in the taste. Still some white fruits, but the oak and oak spices comes forward to dominate. The finish is warm and spicy. A bit of burned caramel in the background as well and the sweetness mixes in nicely.

I must admit I miss some ferocity all over, but especially in the smell. The touch of oak and spices in the finish saves it though. A fine dram at a fair price. I will give this 84/100 (20/21/22/21).
