Review #676 |
Dried
fruits and loads of oak, dark chocolate and hints of coffee and tobacco in the
taste. Some burned caramel in the finish comes forward alongside the oak. Oak
spices and vanilla. Some overripe plums as well.
In many
cases, old whiskies (+50 years) are “over matured” in my opinion. They should
simply have been bottled earlier as the oak have overpowered the spirit. This
however, is not such a case! Loads of oak, but without being too much, allowing
all the other flavours to unfold, and leaves you with a wonderful balance. I
will give this 92/100 (22/23/23/24).
Lovely dram - great you shared it with me for my 50th Birthday!
