Bruichladdich 12 yo (2006/2018), Maltbarn, 51,8%

Review #671
This is single cask no. 98 from Maltbarn. It is  matured in Bourbon and wine casks, which I guess means it’s a wine cask finish, and only 155 bottles were made. Classic thick Bruichladdich marzipan in the smell. A bit of hay and dried fruits with vanilla in the end.

Big and meaty in the taste. Hay and farm-like notes mixed with fruits and burned oak. Sweet raisins, dates and dried apricots. The finish gets a bit more sweet, and more vanilla and red fruits comes forward. Especially red berries.

It is so full of flavours. The perfect marriage of the rich Bruichladdich character and wine cask maturation. And remember it is just a finish, so it is not overwhelming at all. I will give this 87/100 (21/22/22/22).
