Jack Daniel´s Straight Rye, 45%

A relatively new expression from Jack Daniel’s. It is made of 70% rye, 18% corn and 12% malted barley. Sweet burned caramel, oak and wood spices in the smell. Sweet bubblegum and hints of the classic spicy rye character.

Sweet oak (!??), and vanilla again, comes rushing in on the palate. Very light for a rye, but still with the spicy rye touch – especially cinnamon! White fruits is coming through in the finish. Sweet - over cooked - white fruits!

A fine rye from Jack Daniel’s, even though I am missing some complexity and it seems very light/clean… Probably the best whiskey I have tasted from Jack Daniel’s (even though that doesn’t say much…). I will give this 83/100 (21/21/21/20).
