Benrinnes 9 yo (2007/2016), James Eadie - SB, 46%

Review #709
This is from the “Small Batch” series and comes from 1st fill Sherry casks, with the numbers #300510 & #300512. 1308 bottles were made. Over ripe pears and a bit of marzipan in the smell. Vanilla and a touch of lemongrass in the background.

Grain, grass and a bit of floral notes in the taste. A bit of over ripe plum and dried apricot as well. The finish is an exact continuation of the taste. However, in the end, the burned oak is a bit more noticeable.

There is just something about this I can’t put my finger on. Is it an off note? Is it not? Still, it’s impressive how much flavour they have put into a 9 year old whisky. I will give this 82/100 (20/21/21/20).
