Wardhead 21 yo (1997/2018), Liquid Treasures, 55,5%

Review #707
A blended malt from the Entomology Series by the German bottler Liquid Treasures, matured in Bourbon Hogshead. Light and sweet (super sweet after a couple of minutes in the glass) on the nose. Exotic fruits with sweet butter cake and vanilla.

Burned oak and peppery spices in the taste. Still very sweet though! The exotic fruits mixes great with the oak. It doesn’t get less sweet in the finish. Quite contrary – more ‘thick’ and syrupy. However, it seems like the oak has gotten the upper hand here.

I think this is at a point where some will think the oak is too dominant. Personally, I don’t think that we are there yet, but I think they were right to bottle it now. A very fine blended malt, if you are in the mood for a Bourbon matured whisky where the oak is dominant. I will give this 87/100 (21/22/22/22).
