This is made from 100% rye. It is aged in new
American oak with a Bourbon barrel finish. Oak spices and a bit of soap in the
smell. Be careful, you could lose some nose hairs if you get too close! A bit
of peach and fresh plum in the background.
It taste like a mix of a Rye and a Bourbon,
but as it is made from 100% rye, it must be the new oak and Bourbon barrel
finish that shines through! Actually quite interesting! Burned oak and oak
spices. Some caramel and a bit of soapy/minty notes in the finish.
The whisky is fine, but I miss some of that
complexity you get in many Rye whiskies. Still a fine dram, and it makes me
wanna light up a cigar! I will give this 83/100 (20/21/21/21).
