Glenglassaugh 32 yo (1979/2011), Signatory, 43,7%

Review #790
This is matured in a hogshead, with the cask number #1545. Only 256 bottles were made. Crisp white fruits in the smell. Some oak and spices as well – mostly cinnamon, with a little caramel and vanilla in the back.

A bit and raw in the taste. Oak, burned caramel and just a hint of flowers. Some citrusy notes as well. The burned caramel shines through in the finish alongside some very dry oak. Very warming, and actually a quite long finish.

Some whiskies gets very complex and full of flavours when they get old. This is mostly just oaky… I tasted it blind, and I don’t think it would get so high ratings if most people tasted it blind. Well, taste is subjective, and some people like these “oaky waters”. I will give this 82/100 (21/20/21/20).
