Monologue 26 yo (1993/2020), Chapter 7, 44,9%

Review #827
This is a blend from the series A Whisky Anthology. It’s from a Sherry Butt, bottled at cask strength, with a number of 618 bottles. Red berries and dry oak in the smell. Sweet dates and a touch of plums.

Red berries again in the taste. A nice burn, even though it’s below 45%. The oak is more dominant than the Sherry influence. The finish is long, and a lot of flavour stays behind. Especially the dry oak.

A fine dram. Maybe I expected a bit more... As I said, the Sherry influence was a bit overwhelmed by the wood, so maybe it was bottled just a bit too late... So if you prefer the subtle Sherry notes, combined with loads of oak, this might be right up your alley. I will give this 87/100 (22/21/22/22).
