Ledaig 8 yo (2011/2019), Signatory (Port Finish), 60,6%

Review #848
This is from the series ”The Un-Chillfiltered Collection” and is a single cask with the cask number 5. It’s a Port Hogshead finish (23 months) specially selected for Denmark and only 295 bottles were made. Sharp salty peat in the smell. Some black pepper and vanilla as well.

The high ABV and the peat, makes it a bomb at first in the taste. The peppery notes are present here as well, alongside hints of citrus. Notes of wood and some dried fruits in the finish – a finish that lasts for quite a while!

I think it’s fair to say, that you can use water in this whisky! It has spent 23 months in a Port Hogshead, but I don’t think that the Port influence is significant. So if you thought you would get a “Port bomb”, you might be disappointed… However, the Port influence aside, it’s a good Ledaig (like always dare I say). I will give this 88/100 (22/22/22/22).
