Angels share
The part of the whisky that evaporates from the barrels up in the sky.

ASB
American Standard Barrel

BYO
Bottle Your Own. In a lot of distilleries you can bottle a whisky from a cask in the warehouse of the distillery or in their shop. See also FYO.

CC
Connoisseurs Choice. A range from the independent bottler Gordon & MacPhail.

CS
Cask Strength. Means that the whisky is bottled straight from the cask without being watered down.

CWC
Creative Whisky Company. An independent bottler.

DB

Distillery bottling. A whisky bottled by the distillery.

DL
Douglas Laing. An independent bottler from Scotland. 

DM
Double matured. A whisky that has matured in 2 different types of casks.

DT
Duncan Taylor. An independent bottler.

F&F
Flora & Fauna. A range from Diageo.


FYO
Fill Your Own. In a lot of distilleries you can bottle a whisky from a cask in the warehouse of the distillery or in their shop. See also BYO.

G&M
Gordon & MacPhail. An independent bottler from 1895. They have bottled the oldest single malt whisky. A 70 year old Mortlach.

IB

Independent bottling. A whisky bottled by an independent whisky bottler.

No age statement

A range from Hunter Laing called Old Malt Cask.

PX
Pedro Ximénez. It is a type of sherry.

SC
Single Cask.

Slainte
Cheers, or directly translated: Health. You may find different variations like Slainte mhath which means "Good health".

SMWS
Scotch Malt Whisky Society. A worldwide whisky society and an independent bottler.

Spirit

The liquid you get right after distillation, i.e. before it is filled into the barrel.

YO
Year old. The age of the whisky.
