Bunnahabhain Cruach-Mhóna, 50 %

Cruach Mhóna is Gaelic for peat stack. It is originally released for travel retail only. The smell is fruity, light peated and slightly salty. It is not very salty, but more like standing at the beach a cold winter day.

In the first sip the nice Islay peat mixes with some sweet caramel in a really nice way. More peat here than in the smell, and there is more sweetness than my nose thought. The finish is nice and long, a real chewy whisky, and some coffee and sweet licorice appears in the end.

A nice dram, perfect for enjoyment outside on a windy day. It stays in the mouth for quite a while even with small sips. After a couple of stressful days this was spot on! I will rate this 88/100 (22/22/22/22).
