A NAS
whisky from Highland Park which is matured in 80 % first fill sherry casks (60
% from European oak and 20 % from American oak) and 20 % refill sherry cask. A
typical sherry nose with a lot of dried fruits like plums and dates and lot of
tannins.
The taste
is very smooth with mild peat. Sweet peat, and again you get a lot of dried
fruits but without the tannins. The finish is mild and well rounded. A nice
continuation of the taste.
Give a
couple of minutes in the glass and you will get some more sweetness, vanilla
and some fresh grass. This is not an immature NAS whisky, but an incredible
smooth and mild expression from Highland Park. I will rate this 90/100
(23/22/23/22).
