Review #350 |
Matured in Bourbon
and Oloroso Sherry casks before it is finished in Cabernet Sauvignon barriques.
Dusty dried fruits is the first thing I get in the smell. For the first time in
many Dalmores I get a bit of alcohol roughness as well (and in this case it is
a very good thing!). A bit of cake sweetness and some caramel as always.
Deep dark
flavor profile. The extra 4 % to take it to 44 really makes a difference in the taste! The
fruity notes really takes a step forward, and the oak really comes forward in
the finish, yet still very elegantly. Some coffee and dark chocolate hides in
the background and would probably go well alongside this whisky as well.
