Glen Mhor 25 yo (1963), Sestante, 40%

Review #454
This is from the series ”Fine Old Highland Malt”. So many pleasant notes in the smell! Where to begin? Marzipan sweetness, grapes and vanilla. The 40 % does that the flavours is a bit subdued, but on the other hand you can really explore it without getting your nose hairs burned! After some minutes some white fruits and pineapple appear.

Very grassy in the taste. Honey sweetness, but mixed with some black pepper so it doesn’t get too sweet. The oak is already present in the taste, but comes truly forward in the finish. Without getting bitter and that is very pleasant! Still some grapes and vanilla present.

Remember it is only 40 % and very fragile, so be very careful with water! It would have suited this to be 46, or just 43 %, as it gets a bit simple and the finish a bit weak. With that said, for a whisky at 40 %, it is full of flavour! I will give this 86/100 (22/21/22/21).
