Ardmore 9 yo (2007), SMWS 66.101, 60,1%

Review #732
This whisky is called “Flirting with flavour” and comes from a refill ex-Bourbon barrel. Only 270 bottles were made. Very earthy peat in the smell. Some oak as well and a bit of toffee notes in the background.

The peat and some smoke is the first I get in the taste, but is quite fast pushed in the background. Fruit and spices takes over. Cinnamon, yellow fruits and touch of pepper. Very soft and elegant finish. The earthy peat that fades out alongside some tropical/citrusy notes.

The gentle finish is quite surprising considering its only 9 years old! For a young peated whisky, the balance and complexity is also quite good. Once again, Ardmore shows that they can do good peated whiskies, and SMWS shows that they are good at picking the casks! I will give this 87/100 (21/22/22/22).
