Aultmore 14 yo (2002), SMWS 73.82, 55,3%

Review #730
This whisky is called “Tap-dancer with a Tootsie Roll” and comes from a ex-Bourbon hogshead with a 1 year finish in a custom virgin oak barrel. Only 210 bottles were made. Oak, dusty books and melons in the smell, with hints of some vanilla in the background.

So full of flavours in the taste, and that really compliment the alcohol! Charred oak with a dash of herbs. The sweet vanilla comes forward in the finish. The oak is still here, but not as dominating as you maybe would think!

It has many similarities with Bourbon, but with a touch of Scotch (especially the nose). Very flavourful and it seems like it was some good casks and the spirit a great mix. However, I miss a bit of complexity… I will give this 86/100 (21/22/22/21).
