Glendullan 14 yo (2001), SMWS 84.20, 55,2%

Review #729
This whisky is called “Fresh and floral – green and white” and comes from a 2nd fill ex-Sauternes hogshead. Only 186 bottles were made. White fruits and grass in the smell. Slightly vegetal and then some sweet caramel notes comes forward.

The vegetal notes are dominant in the taste (alongside the alcohol!). Fresh crisp apples and a bit of citrusy notes in the background. Some more sweetness peeps out in the finish, with the addition of some tropical fruits.

It’s a good quality dram, but is just missing something, that could take it the last step up the ladder. But as I say, good quality (just look at the score), with a good flavourful finish and with quite the complexity! I will give this 86/100 (21/21/22/22).
