Bunnahabhain 5 yo (2013/2018), Hidden Spirits, 50%

This is number 7 in ”The Young Rebels Collection”. It is matured in an ex-Bourbon cask with the cask number BU1318. Only 305 bottles were made. It says Staoisha on the label, which is another word for heavily peated Bunnahabhain. Peppery-vegetal peat in the smell. Quite fresh with a dash of salt. After some time in the glass, it actually turns quite sweet.

The taste, at first, seems a bit more young than the smell. I don´t mind though. White fruits, salty and that peppery character again. It´s like the whole thing comes together nicely in the finish, where some sweet vanilla frosting joins the show.

I really enjoy these young Staoisha’s! It tends to be good every time – like they won’t sell the casks if they ain´t (which is probably true)! Then topped with the fact that Bunnahabhain have a special place in my heart – I will give this 86/100 (22/21/22/21).
