Imperial 8 yo (1998), DT Battlehill, 43%

Review #749
This young Imperial is from the Duncan Taylor series Battlehill. Not much else is known, except that it should be natural colour and unchill filtered. Vanilla, honey and wax in the smell. Loads of white fruits beneath that.

A little alcohol burn, apples and pears in the taste. Caramelised apples that is, and vanilla. All the great things from the smell comes forward in the finish, and for a whisky bottled at 43%, it is quite flavourful and long!

On the nose it seems much more elegant than an 8 year old whisky! The youthfulness shows in the taste, but the finish takes you back to this elegancy! I wouldn’t have guessed this to be 8 years old! Outclasses many older refill cask bottlings! I will give this 87/100 (22/21/22/22).
