Springbank 9 yo (2007/2017), Duty Paid Sample, 56,5%

Review #823
This is a (big) duty paid sample from Springbank. It’s from a refill Bourbon barrel, with rotation number 242. Grassy damp peat in the smell. White fruits and peach flavoured ice tea. Unfortunately, considering the age, you are in no doubt about it being a refill cask…

Classic signature Springbank peat at first in the taste. White fruits and some grassy notes. Not much changes in the finish, where the flavours just lingers out with some vanilla on the side…

I wasn’t expecting much after the initial nosing, and (unfortunately) the experience lived up to the expectation… It’s not always price and quality goes hand in hand, and this is a good example. So much better Springbank out there for considerably less! I will give this 81/100 (20/21/20/20).
