Ardmore 2009 (bottled 2018), W&M - Barrel Selection, 46%

Review #829
By Wilson & Morgan comes this Barrel Selection with the label “Heavy Peat”. It’s a limited release consisting of the casks 706405/60/66/68/69/97. The name is there for a reason – heavy peat, hay and grassy notes in the smell. White fruits, green apples, in the background.

It’s not very old, and that clearly shows in the taste, which is dominated by the peat. It’s not a bad thing, as the balance is great and the whisky delivers exactly what it is supposed to! The finish doesn’t change much, but stays with a great mouthfeel.

As stated, it’s young and it shows, but not in that under-matured way. The balance is great, and this expression just shows that peated Ardmore is at the very top, when it comes to mainland peat! I will give this 84/100 (21/21/21/21).
