Spica 29 yo (1989/2019), North Star Spirits, 45.5%

Review #838
A 29 year old Blended Scotch Whisky bottled by North Star Spirits. Only 1.000 bottles produced. Dried fruits and tobacco leaves in the smell. Dates, light vanilla, oak and a bit of tannins in the background.

More oak in the taste, but still with the dried fruits alongside. The long maturation leaves a good proportion of vanilla as well. The finish is warm, tickling tannins, and the fruity notes stays for quite a while. A great combination of the richness you find in malt whisky, and the elegance of old grain whisky.

This is perfect for a cold winter evening in front of the fireplace, while the snow pours down outside. It’s 45.5%, but the alcohol is far from dominating, yet, the flavours are rich and stays in the mouth for quite some time. A bottle that will last for a while! I will give this 89/100 (22/23/22/22).
